Dadiani Locomotive Yard Masterplan

The Dadiani Locomotive Yard Masterplan reimagines a former railway precinct as a 15-minute neighbourhood centred on courtyards, connectivity and cultural memory. An extensive study of the surrounding neighbourhood informed the plan’s scale, recreation patterns and spatial character, extending familiar local conditions into a new urban framework.

The proposal challenges Tbilisi’s often impermeable urban blocks by introducing two new civic spines, The Grand Avenue and Park Avenue, creating through-block connections and a more walkable, connected district.

At its heart, the adaptive reuse of the historic locomotive yard preserves the site’s railway and electrification heritage, transforming it into a creative hub for work, play, food, culture and learning. Developed with a leading Australian landscape practice, the masterplan integrates restorative landscapes, active recreation and wellness amenities as essential urban infrastructure.
